Rekha Jain Bal Rang Samman

Eminent theatre personality and Founder Director of Umang Bal Manch, Smt. Rekha Jain (1924-2010) instituted the Bal Rang Samman in 2009 for excellence in the field of Children's Theatre. Conferred every year, this is arguably the only award in the country that underlines the value of children's theatre and celebrates it. Today, when a beginning is being made to introduce theatre in the school curriculum, and the need to encourage and develop talent in this creative field is being recognized, this award acquires a special significance. In the memory of Smt. Rekha Jain, Umang has renamed this award the Rekha Jain Bal Rang Samman. The selection Committee for this award consists of eminent writers, artists and theatre experts. Presently the award carries a cash prize of Rs. 50000, a plaque and a citation. Eminent personatities awarded are :
